Superintendent

Being our on-site project superintendent requires a well organized, independent, innovative, and responsible person who  understands how to take a project through successful completion. They will supervise and direct the activities of a crew of carpenters, laborers, and/or subcontractors and help with scheduling, production, and quality control on a daily basis.

This is a hands-on position and the superintendent will be working on job sites with their crews and subcontractors.

You must be willing to step in and get your hands dirty whenever it's needed.

responsibilities

Responsible for field operations on one or multiple projects, including day-to-day on-site coordination of subcontractors, material suppliers, and inspectors to meet overall schedule requirements.

essential functions

  • Understands safety policies, regulations and demands of job-site compliance.

  • Consistently plans for safety.

  • Responds immediately to potential hazards identified by corporate or 3rd party safety inspections.

  • Organizes and attends all safety meetings.

  • Ensures successful development of site specific safety plan.

  • Review initial budget and quantities.

  • Leads field team and ensures appropriate maintenance of Project Specific QC Plan.

  • Ensures that field personnel are addressing QC on a routine basis.

  • Looks for Lessons Learned throughout the project and promotes documentation of the same by field personnel.

  • Monitor the progress of the construction activities on a regular basis and hold regular status meetings with all the sub-teams.

  • Understands and promotes quality control practices.

  • Develop preliminary schedule and personnel requirements before field work starts.

  • Review building systems options with Project Manager and Estimating Department.

  • Create equipment and tool requirement list before work starts. Verify items are in budget. Advise Equipment Manager of needs.

  • Develop final schedule in Critical Path Method in conjunction with Project Engineer or Project Manager.

  • Adjust schedule as required.

  • Provides input to Project Manager to ensure Buyout priorities are in line with Construction Schedule.

  • Updates all affected parties on short-term schedules ‐ stays 2 to 4 weeks ahead of all players with "heads up" notice.

  • Ensure overall schedule is maintained on a weekly basis.

  • Adjusts schedule to account for scope changes, and communicates to project team the overall impact of scope changes via the project schedule.

position requirements

  • Minimum (5) years of experience as a construction superintendent.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, project scheduling, estimating, and Procore software experience is a plus.

  • High safety record and personal integrity.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment is a must.

  • Actual on-site presence required.

  • Tenant Improvement, multifamily and/or healthcare experience is a preferred.
