Colvos Construction completed the Hope Place Chapel for Seattle Union Gospel Mission, free of charge to the mission. The architect, Third Place Design Co-op also provided their services pro bono and subcontracotor, Designer Painting, did as well. Other subcontractors provided their base pay for the work. The estimated cost of work is around $60,000.
Colvos turned a standard classroom into a chapel by adding the wall and ceiling cross feature, new floor, new paint, new custom lighting, window film and curtains, door film, door stain, door hardware and a new handcrafted wood stain.
The chapel is held in the women and children’s shelter. The shelter is for women in the program with SUGM, they have their own rooms/bathrooms, a computer lab where they get help with resumes and finding jobs, have in-house childcare, a salon and a clothing shop that participants can work for credits to make purchases in.
