After an unusually rainy Pacific Northwest winter, the project team was met with sub-grade conditions unsuitable for paving. Working through the challenge as a team, with the owner Beacon Development, Civil Construction Services (civil subcontractor) and NW Asphalt, Colvos Superintendent Jeff Bird determined the solution was to excavate down to acceptable native soils and lay an asphalt treated base course to improve sub-grade. This solution provided extensive cost savings to the owner.
Additional improvements included utility upgrade, fencing replacement, landscape remodel, ADA access improvement, and asphalt replacement and striping.
